Your bedroom matters more than any other room in feng shui because you spend a third of your life there. The good news: almost every rule is about where things go, so you can fix most problems tonight without buying anything.
A bedroom set up the classical way: bed in the command position, solid wall behind the headboard, nightstands on both sides.
9 bedroom feng shui rules
Put the bed in the command position. From bed you should see the door without lying directly in line with it. Diagonal from the door is ideal.
Back the headboard on a solid wall. Not under a window and not on a wall shared with a toilet. A solid headboard adds support.
No mirror facing the bed. It is said to bounce energy around all night. Move it, or cover it at night.
Keep the feet off the door line. Feet pointing straight out the door is called the coffin position. Shift the bed or add a bench at its foot.
Use two nightstands. One on each side, roughly matched, invites balance in a relationship.
Clear under the bed. Storage under the bed traps stale energy. If you must, keep it to soft linens.
Leave work out. No desk facing the bed, no laptop on the nightstand. The bedroom is yin: rest, not activity.
Choose soft colors. Skin tones, earth tones and muted greens calm the room. Save bright red for small accents.
No beams or heavy shelves over the bed. Anything pressing down overhead is said to press on your sleep.
Can't move the bed? Use cures: a solid headboard for a window behind you, a rug and bench to soften a door line, a heavy curtain to close off an en-suite bathroom door.
